Barnsley Council are seeking a Travel Enabler. The role is 20 hours, permanent In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £20,812 – £21,189 pro rata per annum.

The Travel Enabler role:

We are seeking a Travel Enabler to join our small Independent Travel Training (ITT) team. The Travel Trainers provide support to adults, young people and children who are referred to the service to learn how to travel independently using public transport. Many of the trainees have additional needs, and travel training provides them with the opportunity to achieve a level of independence that often leads to increased opportunities in work, education, and social activities.

The travel training can take place at any time during the day and sometimes evening, depending on the journey location and purpose. You would need to be able to work flexibly as there will be days where your time would be split between the outgoing and return journeys, for example supporting the trainee in their journey from home to college in the morning then the college to home journey later in the day.

Skills and experience we re looking for in our Travel Enabler:

Level 2 Qualification in care or willingness to complete within 6 months of commencement of employment

Level 1 English and Maths

Willing to undertake further training, as required

Relevant Experience Measure Rank

Previous experience of working in a support or mentoring role

Able to independently self-travel using Public Transport facilities
