Multi-Skilled Engineer – S74 – £40,000 – £45,000 DOE – Full Time, Permanent We are currently looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer, this position we have available will mean working primarily within the fabrication and welding section in the Manufacturing Engineering / NPI team for a leading Manufacturer based in the Barnsley S74 area. This role is to manage and control existing automated and semi-automated equipment, alongside the exploration, justification, and finding/ implementing the use of new and appropriate automation / robotic solutions into the manufacturing facility. £40,000 – £45,000 Per Annum DOE Monday to Thursday 7:30am until 4:30pm and Friday 7:30am until 1:30pm Benefits: Bonus Structures available 25 Holidays + STATS Westfield Health – for dental, optical etc. (Additional Membership available for Partners, paid for by employee. Kids membership included for free) Reward Gateway Discounts on retailers Free Onsite Parking 5% contributory pension Life insurance scheme Duties include but are not limited to: Key role within NPI team to ensure efficient, structured handover to production of a capable defined manufacturing process. Program and parameter setting of automated and semi-automated equipment, including but not limited to twin tandem seam-welding, plasma welding and robotic MAG welding. Creation of weld maps and weld sequences to ensure compliance to WPQRs, relevant internal/external standards and to minimise the effects of distortion. Propose new design solutions in line with automation advancements to improve manufacturability, reduce cost, and improve production throughput and quality. Definition and validation of fabrication sub-assemblies to ensure cells are balanced, flexible, and efficient, realising the maximum value-added process time. Responsible for initial program generation / program adjustments on existing products. The role involves concept design, planning, sourcing, and implementation of automation solutions and development & integration of automated / robotic welding processes. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Robotics / Engineering or 5 years relevant experience. Good knowledge of welding processes and experience in steel fabrication and machining. PLC programming experience. Excellent analytical skills combined with good negotiation and conflict management skills with proficiency in computers would be beneficial Broad experience in design, manufacturing, and quality engineering. Lean Manufacturing principles and process evaluation experience. Basic mechanical and electrical repair skills Ability to read engineering drawings.
