A great opportunity for a Assistant Buyer (Food & Drink) to join a rapidly growing retailer. The business is looking to increase its market share over the next 12 months with impressive growth plans. You will work with closely with the Senior Buyer and wider buying team. . You will provide essential support to the Senior Buyer by taking responsibility for orders, forecasts, some cost negotiation, and supplier management.
Description
As the Buying Assistant, you will work with the respective Senior Buyer to grow sales, maximise profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices.
Other key facets of the role include;
– Sales forecasting and replenishment ordering
– Sourcing market beating clearance deals
– Develop seasonal ranges
– Work with merchandising and space planning to optimise space
– Maintain and develop relationships with existing and new suppliers
– Liaise with suppliers to ensure an efficient supply chain
– Work with marketing to promote amazing value deals
– Identify market trends and new product opportunities
– Monitor and understand competitor value proposition and pricing
– Administrative duties including the creation of products in the system
Profile
Experience of working within the value/discount sector is favourable
FMCG buying experience
Strong communication skills
Ability to work with traders and clearance suppliers
Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge (Vlookups, sales, profit, margin calculation formulas)
Ability to create and understand detailed reporting
Sales forecasting
