Barnsley Council are seeking an Area Council Manager. The role is 22.2 hours, permanent In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £46,549 – £49,590 pro rata per annum.
The Area Council Manager role:
This role is to represent the Council at one of six geographical areas reflecting Area Councils and drive forward the development and delivery of the Central Area Council Plan, agree area priorities with Elected Members and wider community. The Central area covers Wards Central, Dodworth, Kingstone and Stairfoot.
This role will include setting the Area Council agendas in collaboration with the Area Chair and the organisation of papers that are delivered at each of the meetings. This post is part of a job share and the successful candidate will complement the existing post holders work programme. This will include the management of a devolved budget, commissioning services, delivering a grants programme and the contract management of current services.
As Area Council Manager you will be responsible for the strategic direction of the area and management of the Central Area Team.
Skills and experience we’re looking for in our Area Council Manager:
A degree or equivalent level 6 qualification
Evidence of continual development in a relevant field
An appropriate management qualification eg Diploma in Management Studies
Extensive and demonstrable management experience in neighbourhood renewal, neighbourhood management or regeneration and understanding of the Localism policy framework
Developing and driving strategic action plans as the lead agency of a partnership
Developed use of commissioning and re-engineering of service planning to effect service improvements
Experience of service development, implementation and evaluation, utilising performance monitoring systems
Working with, and developing the work of Elected Councillors, in particular in their role in partnership working and community leadership
Demonstrable project management experience and development of team work plans
Budget preparation and management of a range of budgets including grant funding
Experience of researching and producing accurate and concise reports and delivering presentations to a wide range of audiences
